Welcome to the Wanderer’s center for forearm protection! Here we have bracers for archery, for fighting, and for just looking good.

As with all of our leather items, our bracers are made from scratch, by hand, by our Wanderer. Everything starts life as a blank, side of veg-tan leather. That means every element can be customized to your preferences.
- Style. I’m always happy to develop a new pattern or modify an existing one based on your vision. But I also have these proven patterns available.

- Size. My pre-existing patterns work for many people, but I’m happy to modify a pattern to fit you specifically. All I need to customize your bracer size is the circumference of your wrist and how far along your arm you’d like the bracer to run.
- Color. I use Fiebing’s dye for most projects and you project can incorporate any of these colors. Please be aware that dyeing leather by hand is not a precise science and there may be some variation in the final product, especially after conditioning, but I am always happy to send you pictures of some samples before you commit to a whole project. Archery bracers are all one piece so there’s nothing to snag a string on, so those must be one color. Heavy bracers are two components which can be dyed differently and if you opt for straps, those can also be dyed your choice. Leaf bracers are the most diverse of all as each individual leaf is dyed separately, as is the bracer itself.

- Color part two, BLACK! I do not use any dyes for black leather. Instead, I use an old-world technique called vinegaroon. When iron is dissolved in vinegar, it reacts with the tannins in the leather and actually turns the leather black rather than pigmenting it. Leather treated in this way also has tighter fibers resulting in greater resistance to moisture and stretching. It does smell of vinegar and iron for a short while after, but that quickly gives way to the smell of conditioning substances and the leather itself.
- Tooling. Whether subtle or dramatic, your choice of tooling can make your bracers completely your own. All tooling is done by hand, by me, no machines involved. I can apply most line art (that you have permission to use, of course) as a featured piece, if you have something specific in mind, or I can help you choose from a library of available stencils that I already have ready to go. I also have patterned stamps, such as weaves or scales, and I have texturing stamps that can be used to accent edges or stenciled pieces for more dramatic effect. The options are vast so don’t be shy about asking, I’m always happy to do some practice pieces for you so you can get an idea of how a design might look.
- Conditioning. My preferred conditioning agent is pure neatsfoot oil. This is a tried and true method and its easy for you to maintain. In the same spirit, the default topcoat I use is beeswax applied with a horsehair brush. I’m more than happy to use other methods for your specific project, however, if you prefer.
- Finishing. Unless otherwise requested, I burnish all edges and any exposed flesh sides. This is my preferred aesthetic, it gives a more complete look to a project, and it helps with durability and longevity. But this is your piece! The choice is yours.
I’d be happy to discuss your project ideas with you and help nail down a specific design. Just reach out via our contact page and let me know what you’re thinking!
